Hello Deskorators,

Happy Stationery Day and of course, Happy National Stationery Week! Every April, stationery loves around the world, whether you are a casual owner of a well-made fountain pen or a complete notebook enthusiast, take the time to celebrate the everyday things we use! But, where did Stationery day come from, and why does it even exist? Let’s go back in time, to where it all began…

Although the origins of World Stationery Day only goes back 7 years, after starting in 2012, it marks an event in history – the writing of the Magna Carta. An important document here in Britain, the Magna Carta was completely handwritten using a quill pen, ink and parchment paper in 1215, therefore showing not only how long physical documents can last, but, as a result, emphasises the importance of keeping the use of pen and paper in today’s digital world.

With laptops and phones always close to hand, it has become second nature to us to grab for the latest piece of technology to write down simple shopping lists and business plans alike. However, there is nothing quite like opening a brand new notebook, and putting your stamp on it, is there?

Therefore, this National Stationery Week, give your trusty diary some love, or even get a little creative if you are able to! What will you get up to?

Until next time…
